RunForTheNation '09

Hey people, remember what Uncle Meng Yew announced last Friday after our Amazing Race? For the benefit of those who weren't there, here's it. It's called Run For The Nation.

Here's an excerpt of something about this program:

Run For The Nation or RunNat is a single morning running event that sees Christians praying as they run throughout selected areas in the city or town where the event is held. The Runners are grouped into teams of three and each Team is required to cover a 5km run of a preselected route passing by homes, schools, commercial areas, government buildings, religious sites and other places of interest. As the Team runs, one will lead in prayer while the other two will agree. With the aim to cover most grounds, the run adopts the relay style by using Prayer Cards in replacement of batons.

This running while praying program is a good cause because we really need to pray for our nations. It's as important as eating your rice every day. =p I would encourage you to sign up if you're interested. Details are as follow:
  • Date: 10 October 2009
  • Venue: Pre-selected routes. Wait for further instructions
  • Time: Gather at 4.30am before the whole run begins
  • Price: RM10 for registration (Optional RM20 for the T-shirt)
For further information regarding this great program, check out the RunNat website. And if you're interested in participating in this good cause and do not know how to sign up or need some help, you can always call Kelvin (012-207 9363) or email to him at kelvinkuankm@yahoo.com.

Come'n guys, we should be praying for our nation with actions. Remember our camp? LIVING FAITH!

S.O.S.

"Save Our Ship", "Survivors On Ship,", "Save Our Sailors", "Stop Other Signals", "Send Out Sailors"... these are just some variations of S.O.S., a term used for emergencies and cries for help.

Though, S.O.S. is more commonly known as the abbreviation for "Save Our Souls"...

There are many others who are currently sending out the S.O.S. signals, but what should we respond to? Who and how should we respond to it?

This week's CF attempts to identify the S.O.S. calls and cries that we just might have missed it all along in our daily walks and routines. Find out what is means to truly respond to S.O.S. calls around us.

Join us for a great time of CF, this FRIDAY, 18th Sept, in C406!

It's Friday...

...but there's no CF. *sighs* Don't you wish you will have more CF?

I guess all of you are pretty busy with all your exams, while some of you are still struggling with your assignments. Every single student in UCSI must be upright busy now. Don't forget, in the midst of you busyness, do spend some time with God and ask Him for His strength in all that you do. It works all the time. If you have any problems, do approach anyone in the CF to pray for you or something. We'd be delighted to do that.

And of course, study hard, smart and also play hard! Do keep in touch with one another by ajaking people for lunch and all. Food is the best boding "equipment".

Anyway, just a reminder, to those who have yet to sign up for camp, please sign up IMMEDIATELY because we are gonna close the registration. You can call me(Kelvin) at 012-2079363 for information as well as registration. You won't regret it because tonnes of fun are awaiting you.

At Your Service RECAP!

Hey everybody!!!

A million apologies for not updating you guys with the recaps. Unfortunately we were too caught with work... we will try our best to recap ok???

Anyways, no pictures this time... sorry for that. Last week for CF we had At Your Service at C406. In the midst of mid term (and post mid term), 38 of you guys showed up! Great job everyone who showed up! Mid terms cannot stop us...

We had the usual breakdown of worship, announcement and sharing. Worship was led by first time worship leader Keng Cheng *clap clap clap* as well as the worship team *clap clap clap too!*.
We couldn't stress the importance to attend Prayer Meetings and CGs, both on Wednesdays at 4 to 6 pm and 11am to 1pm respectively, so please do come for it! We also made an announcement for CF CAMP!!! I'm sure all of you would be looking forward to this camp. I know it's gonna be awesome, and I know that you know that it will be as well! Click HERE for more details!

So anyways, back to the recap. Last week, Lam and Nally shared with us the various areas of service and servanthood to Him and how burnouts and serving Him for the fame and reputation could harm us. Indeed, we need to balance out our service to Him, give it our best shot and yet at the same time keep reminding and checking ourselves so that we are not too burned out of ourselves and not doing it for the sake of doing it, or serving Him for the fame and the title.

Each of us would differ from one another, that's how God made us to be. One man's meat is another man's poison. There are no sure ways of guaranteeing ourselves that we won't be burned out and we won't fall into the temptations of serving Him for the sake of glorifying ourselves instead of God, but the one thing that we could do is to gauge ourselves constantly spiritually and to always rely on God's direction and His ways and not ours.

So that was last week's CF meeting. Do check out the next post for the coming CF meeting!!!

At Your Service

Servanthood is natural for us as we develop our walk with Him.
But for most of us, temptations and burnouts will halt our progress and our service unto Him. Some of us are serving for the wrong purpose, and some of us are dragging our feet on the ground because of how tired we are.

So how do we cope with these issues? Come and join us this FRIDAY, July 10th 2009 at C406, 1pm onwards to discuss on how we can be efficient and be effective at His service.

9 to 5

I know all of you are not out to work yet and all but isn't it important to know how is it out there? All I remember is that people told me before that, "It's a jungle out there". I don't know if it's true but I'm sure there is some truth to a certain extent.

Anyway, we will be sharing on some of the challenges in work life through a short skit as well as up, close and personal sharing from our ex-CF president, Christine Tan. Remember to come and learn all these that will prep you for your working life in the future.

9 to 5

See ya there this Friday. Please take note that we are no longer meeting in the oh-so-beautiful cabin but in one of the classes on Block C 4th Floor named C406.

When I Grow Up, I Want to Be...?

Ever had the biggest dreams in your life?

Do you know for sure what you're gonna do?

What if you don't seem to get what you have planned to do?

What if.....?

When I Grow Up

We're pretty sure that all of us have planned our future pretty well. For some reason, we just know we want to do that "something". But what if that's not how it should go? We often have our own plans but that might not even be the ultimate plan.

Do come for CF this Friday and we will discuss about this matter in a more in-depth way. It will surely be a blessing.

Dis-Enchanted Recap

I believe many of you were blessed with last week's BGR forum hosted by our own advisors, Ms. Lilian, Uncle Meng Yew and Ms. Kitty. It was an interesting forum per se getting to know some of the advises for the questions asked that I've been wanting to know.

Certainly there are certain things that I have my own views at but their opinions definitely helped clear some thoughts about these questions.

DSC04234

The questions were all mainly suggested and asked by our very own CF members. Our fellow penalists, were confident as ever, giving their thoughtful insights and views based on their own beliefs and experience. Definitely, they referred back to alot on what the Bible says about certain topics.

DSC04231
I think many of us are blessed and got many our our qualms answered. If only we had more time, we could even know more about Uncle Meng Yew's experience while courting his wife. Haha! Anyway, thanks again to Ms. Lilian, Uncle Meng Yew and Ms. Kitty for availing themselves to share with us their experiences. I look forward to more of these forums.

Dis-Enchanted

Love is pure. Love is so beautiful. Love is 1 Corinthians 13. Love is so amazing, so awesome and so powerful in so many ways.

...but love hurts just as much as it is all the things mentioned above. In the wrong handling, love could be the one thing that would destroy a person, and in many cases, the wrong choices or doubts would lead to love hurting us instead of blessing us. Just like a quote that says, "Love is heaven, but it also hurts like hell".

This week, we will look into the boundaries and the responsibilities of love, and we will be discussing it via forum style. We have a selected panel of people to help us answer some of our questions that we have been getting from our previous CF meetings over the past few weeks, and this Friday, we will seek to answer these questions that might be affecting us in love or relationships in one way or another.

So do come, this Friday in B105, from 1pm onwards. Bring your friends too! It'll be an exciting time of fellowship and discussion come this Friday. Hope to see you this Friday!

Love Actually... RECAP

Hey everyone! Apologies for the late updates and stuff, cuz it's the holiday week now (not for us, for the high/primary school kids), and hence we got delayed in the process. Don't ask us why... we just did.

So anyways, we had a great time last week Friday, the 29th of May, as we had our CF meeting in the Auditorium. As usual, meeting started with praise&worship lead by Joseph and team. And shortly after that, we had our 'mysterious' speaker to share with us, and that person is none other than... *drum rolls* Hannah Yeoh! Now, some of you might have heard about her before, especially those who stay in Subang Jaya area. Yes folks over in Subang, she is your State Assemblyman. We were very privelleged to have Hannah over last Friday to share with us her experiences and stories about love and about the selection processes and waiting on God to provide.

We were all moved and amazed at the fact that though she is still at a young age, she has devoted her time for politics, and amidst all those, she managed to put God first in her life. Her sharing on how to select our future partners and how by putting God first in our lives would help us to claim our will and promise in our lives truly hit the right note with our members.

The meeting ended at 2.30pm and we went on for our usual spot for lunch. In case you do not know where our usual spot is, it is at the Block B, outside the library area. So if you can't join us for the CF meeting, do come and join us for lunch after the meeting! We will all be there unless it is not operating for the particular day.

So that's all for the recap, do come and join us for this week's CF meeting! More information in the next post. God bless!

Love Actually...

Ever wondered things like why God will not allow you to be together with the boy/girl of your dreams? Wondered why we make a list of characteristics and criteria for our future boyfriend/girlfriend? Wondered why God will not make him/her fall in love with you and bla bla bla?????

... we do not know why too. But funny how love... a mere 4 letter word could be so puzzling, complex but yet, so simple to adhere to? We may be busy setting up our priorities and our likings or even work our way to get to the hearts of the ones we are attracted to, but where does God fit into all this? The big question remains... is he/she the one for me in my life? How do we know that it is God's will and plan for us?

This week, we bring you our boy-girl relationship themed, Love Actually. We will be looking into the areas of BGR as well as on how to select and wait for the 'right' one. Bring yourself to this week's CF, and get your friends to come along too, in Auditorium, 3rd Floor in Block C. There will be a special speaker for this week, so do come for a fun time fellowship, as well as a time of BGR session together, as we look into this topic.

Once again, the details:
Love Actually
Location : Auditorium, 3rd floor, Block C
Time: 1pm - 230pm

See you guys there! God bless!

18SG RECAP

Alright peeps! Last week Friday we had a phenomenal and fun time of fellowship in the Lounge area in Block A (the one next to the toilet). And what a wonderful turn out as well as we had around 40 plus people who turned up for the meeting!

Pastor Faith Kam from Radiant Life Assembly

As normal, we started with worship led by Kelvin and the worship team (3 guitarists last week! CF rocks man. Perhaps 4 this week?). We had Pastor Faith from Radiant Life Assembly from Cheras Perdana to share with us about the hurts, the ill-feelings and even abuse by parents and other family members that some of us might be going through or went through in our lives. She shared with us some of the pains and sorrows that is relevant to our lives, as well as relating it to our parents and other family members' perspective in our lives.

She shared the verse John 9:3 with us, which says "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life". This also refers back to the passage from the Post Secret week's, 1 Peter 5:5-7, showing that we must allow God to be the Lord of our lives in all situation and let God... be God.

... and this is it! See you guys this week for CF on Friday in AUDITORIUM. Yes, Auditorium in 3rd Floor, Block C. Same time, 1pm.

18SG

I believe all of you felt something after watching the videos and posting your various secrets on the wall. I guess you can relate to all the problems that everyone is facing. To those who did not come, you can see what happened here.

As for this week, we will still be touching on the area of Family. This week, we'll go more in-depth on the things that happen in families around the world. It might also have happened to you before. We are going to touch on these areas and hopefully help you recover or to reconcile the relationship with your parents.

We hope 18SG is the right meeting for you to learn together with us.

Untitled-1

Yes, we are still meeting in the boat-alike cabin. I don't know about you, but I kinda like that place. It's so us, not needing to care that we are disturbing classes next to us.

Well, see ya there!

CF Meeting will be in The Lounge, Block A

Post Secrets RECAP

Yo peeps! This is my first time blogging here, and one of my very few times using blogspot to be honest, so please if you see any error in this post, do not blame me alright? I'm still learning...

... so anyways, last week's CF was a blast! We had around 50 of us in the same cabin/container/metal bin thingy, erected at the carpark area between block B and C.

Yes, last week's theme was 'Post Secrets', and what we did was we showed two videos, one made by our own CF people and one from this bunch of good looking girls and guys, on how we sometimes would want to reach out to our parents and our family members, but more often than not, we could not find the suitable time or the proper manner to express it to them. Even if we did, we would often be judged and brushed aside. 'Post Secrets' is actually a site or movement started by a group of people in the United States, for people, especially youngsters, with deep hidden secrets that would not normally be told or talked about as a casual topic.

We are not encouraging our CF members to share out their darkest secrets out in our previous meeting, but rather it was an opportunity for our members to express their feelings if they could, to their family members, to their loved ones.

As usual, CF started worship led by Nally and the worship team. The videos were then played to give the members an idea of what to expect from the session. As you see in the above pictures, the members were then given a small piece of colored paper, for them to write down their feelings and anxieties, so that it could be shown anonymously to others as well.

In the end, we should take light from the passage 1 Peter 5:5-7, which says:

5Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."
6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

We should always be reminded that our parents and family members' ways are always for our benefit, and at the same time, God's plan for our lives if not to harm us but to prosper us. We should be slow to anger, anxiety, pain, disappointment and all other negative and ill feelings, for if we submit to God and submit our burdens to God, He will life us up in the end.

Anyways, CF will resume this week as usual, on the 22nd of May. More details on the next post. For now, smiley and pictures time from last week's CF in our rockin' cabin/container/metal thing...

See you guys this coming Friday in CF!

Post-Secret

How often do you get to talk to your family members? How many of you have great relationship with your family? Are you rebellious over your parent's authority or are you a great son or daughter to your parents?

This week in CF we will be touching on the topic of Family. We hope to learn together with you the importance of family relationship. If you've been here last semester, we have learnt how to maintain or rather recover our relationship with our family members. So it's about time we get up on our feet and do something about it.

Post-Secret

1 PETER 5:5-7

Come for this week's CF and you will know what we've planned for you. We believe this time would help you to grow as a person as well as growing into a great relationship with your family as you submit to the Word of the Lord.

We will still be meeting in the UN-missable cabin in front of the library. I don't know about you but I can't wait for this week's CF.

See ya there!

Thanksgiving

We hope all of you finally had a Pause since last week's lesson. It was definitely good for some of us, to relax, to sit back, and to not do anything at all.

Well, if you haven't, you can also opt to relax yourself this coming week. We'll be having Thanksgiving like the name suggests.

Come for a time of thanksgiving for all the good things that has happened this semester, as well as for Easter Rally and many other things in your life. There'll be food, games, testimonies and also a surprise for some people.

Don't miss this chance. It'll be great for you to bring friends as well.

See you there!

PAUSE

Amidst all your crazy, tiring, and energy sucking assignments and exams, don't you think it's about time to sit back, relax, and to PAUSE for a moment to reflect on the things that have happened this semester? Be it good or bad, we have to learn how to accept it and move on to a greater level.
So let's just Pause and stop for a short moment to reflect, recuperate and re-energize for the Lord, God Almighty.
Don't forget to bring a friend along with you!

Prayer and Fasting for Easter Rally

The CF Easter Rally is just around the corner. It's just as exciting as last year and this year's gonna be even better. Praise God for that.

As God lead and guide us through the whole process, it is important for us to set our minds on the Lord and start praying for the event. We should form a prayer chain as a Christian Fellowship and upholding the event unto God's hands every time we pray.

We are going to have a Prayer and Fasting session just set aside to pray together as members of CF so that God can continue to be amongst us and help us go through everything smoothly as the final touchings are done. Apart from just the planning, we need to pray that this event can draw the unchurch and then touch their hearts with the Word of God.

Date: March 17, 19, 24, 26, 30 (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Ways to fast:
All meal fast - Fast every meal of the day
Daniel Fast - Only consume vegetables
"Other stuff" Fast - You can fast something that you're actually addicted to that you need to do every day e.g. TV, Football

But don't forget as you fast, remember to pray because fasting without praying is pure DIET!

Prayer Items:

Purpose

-Pray that the name of Jesus to be magnified and made known throughout UCSI ,

that God to put a purpose and passion into our hearts for the rally rather merely an event

People

-Pray for a God fearing attitude in everything that they plan or do

-Pray for good team work between the planning and working committee

and a spirit of excellence within all who are involved

Programme

-Pray for a smooth transition of programme and no disturbances throughout the rally,

that God’s presence will come so strongly throughout the rally

Pray against any spirit of disbelieve or hindrances that could make our friends

not to understand the whole message of salvation

Financial

-Pray that God will supply all our needs in terms of financial and equipments

Continue to Pray for open doors for sponsorship from in or outside UCSI for the rally

Personal

-Pray that God will prepare our hearts to expect great things from Him in this rally

-Pray that God will use us to invite, encourage, bless and last but not least to share about this relationship we have with Him to our friends before, during and after the rally

-Pray for a heart of compassion and caring towards our pre-believer friends

Worship

-Pray for the worship team to work as 1 and a heart of worship within them

-Pray for God’s presence to come forth during practice and during the rally rather that merely entertaining

-Pray for boldness for the worship team to lead

-Pray that the meaning of the songs to cut through the hearts of the unbeliever as well

Message

Where Is God When It Hurts?

Tsunamis! 9-11! Earthquakes! Poverty! Hunger!

Sometimes people just wonder if God is so good and almighty, why in the world is He causing all these problems for us? It's like how can God let His so called children that He loved dearly suffer through all these circumstances?

Put aside those catastrophe that has affected the world at large, let's zoom in to our own personal lives. I'm sure you always ask why am I always failing my examinations? Why are we having so much problems in our relationship with others? Why is it that we never get blessings but we are always facing so much problems in our lives? The question list goes on and on and it doesn't stop anywhere.

There are so many questions yet to be answered. We probably might not be able to answer all these questions that only God can answer but we can always understand through the Word of God as He speaks to us.

Life Is A Rollercoaster

I'm sure all of you in one way or another have experienced different moments in your life, whether it's good or bad. Sometimes you feel like everything is going along well and it's all cool but sometimes times are just rough for you.

It's not like you're looking down but you're not necessarily looking up to see who's in control of your life. In all sorts of situations in your life, you just gotta know that God will always be there, with you and for you. These situations would somehow help you gain a deeper faith in God and know for sure that they were all part of God's plan for Your life.

Like some wise person once said, "If you don't get on the ride, you won't experience the adventure" and in this case, your adventure is with God, our Saviour and friend.
